The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering’s Online Master’s in Data Science program ranks among the nation’s best in quality and affordability, according to Fortune Magazine.
Luddy ranked No. 13 in Fortune Magazine’s Best Online Master’s in Data Science Programs and fifth in its Most Affordable Online Master’s in Data Science Programs, both for 2024.
Ranking factors included online annual search volume, previous Fortune ranking and eight other school-provided data points.
Haixu Tang, professor of Informatics and Computing and director of the Data Science academic programs said the rankings are a “testament to the dedication and expertise of our faculty, the hard work of our students, and the innovative approach we take toward delivering world-class online education in data science.”
Luddy’s master’s program, consisting of 30 credits, focuses on areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data analysis, and engineering.
What makes the program special, Tang said, is the commitment to combining academic rigor with practical, real-world applications.
“Our curriculum is designed to provide students not only with a strong foundation in data science theory,” he said, “but also with the skills they need to thrive in today’s data-driven industries.”
The program’s affordability, Tang added, reflects the Luddy School’s commitment to making a high-quality education attainable for a diverse range of students.
“We aim to minimize the cost while maximizing the value of our program by leveraging pedagogical techniques and online resources and focusing on outcomes that enhance career opportunities,” he said.
